TD-SCDMA Update

- According to a recent China Daily News report, NXP and China's T3G have jointly developed a mobile phone chip that enables automatic switch-over between Chinese homegrown TD-SCDMA and other standards such as GSM/GPRS/EDGE (Global System for Mobile Communications / General Packet Radio Service / Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution).

- According to an AFX News report, Datang Mobile in China and Alcatel Shanghai Bell have recently secured an order from China Netcom to expand its existing TD-SCDMA trial network in Qingdao, Shangdong province. As part of the agreement, both companies will provide China Netcom with core and radio equipment for the 3G network.
